Tourist attractions include the Teapot Dome Service Station, the fortuitously titled Church of God Zillah and the small-town wineries.

Zillah was established in 1891 following the culmination of the Sunnyside Canal project, an irrigation scheme bringing water from the Yakima River to the dry lower Yakima Valley.

The town was titled after Miss Zillah because she would scream and cry on the way to the new town, while on the trip her father promised to name the town after her if she would stop.

Granger homed the command posts of the Washington Irrigation Company in Zillah, giving it economical advantages for a time.

Zillah is positioned on Interstate 82 about 15 miles (24 km) southeast of Yakima.
